Free-agent NFL running back Alex Collins has been suspended for three games by the league as a result of his arrest during the offseason, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Collins was involved in a car accident back in March and was then hit with drug and gun charges for having marijuana and a handgun in the vehicle.

He eventually received probation.

Collins was with the Baltimore Ravens at the time of his arrest, but was cut shortly after. He also suffered a broken leg during the offseason and underwent surgery to repair the injury in July.

The 25-year-old played in 10 games with the Ravens last year, rushing for 411 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 3.7 yards per carry.

Collins, who played his collegiate football at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round (171st pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He appeared in 11 contests during his rookie campaign and had a very limited role, carrying the ball just 25 times for 125 yards and a score. He then joined the Ravens in 2017 and had a breakout year of sorts, totaling 973 yards and six touchdowns as a rusher while logging 4.6 yards per attempt. In addition, he caught 23 passes for 187 yards.

Collins spent three seasons at Arkansas and was a standout for the school. He arrived on the scene in 2013 and immediately flashed his talent, recording 1,026 yards and four touchdowns. Then, the following year, Collins was even better, posting 1,100 yards and 12 scores.

His best season, however, came during his junior campaign, when he racked up 1,577 yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.
