The news regarding NFL free agent Richard Sherman has taken a dreadful turn over the past couple of days. The former Seattle Seahawks star was arrested early Wednesday morning and then was released from custody on Thursday and placed under multiple conditions. On Friday, Sherman broke the silence on the arrest and expressed his sorrow for such events.

This is the first time Sherman has addressed the situation after being taken into custody for burglary and domestic violence charges. The former Seahawks corner spent the past few seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and has been searching for another team to finish out his career.

After the arrest, Sherman's wife also released a statement saying that it is not “his character,” and Sherman's second court hearing was set to take place on Friday as well.

Richard Sherman mentioned the “personal challenges” he has faced, which led to the arrest and the incidents. Either way, if charged, he is likely done in the NFL, at least for the 2021 season.

Sherman was also involved in a hit-and-run incident and all in all it has been a brutal week for Sherman and it is a bit comforting to see him post a statement of any kind.

Whatever the issue is, hopefully he can overcome it and return to the person he has always been.
