The NFL is still reeling from its latest coronavirus news, but the positive tests just keep coming. Fullback Michael Burton of the New Orleans Saints has tested positive for COVID-19. To make matters worse, the team has already flown to Detroit for their scheduled face-off against the Lions in Week 4.
The news was reported by a source from ProFootball Talk, with the identity of Burton as the player being confirmed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport:
Per source, the Saints, who are in Detroit, have a player who has tested positive for COVID-19. Testing currently is occurring of those who were in contact with the player, who was on the flight from New Orleans.

While this could still be a false positive after Michael Burton undergoes more tests, the league can't take any chances. The Saints have started their testing on three players that have been identified as having close contact with Burton. Supplemental testing is also being done on four other players who sat close to him on the plane ride to Detroit, including star running back Alvin Kamara.
This all comes just a day after news of New England Patriots star Cam Newton testing positive rocked the league. Their scheduled Week 4 matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs has unfortunately been postponed. It's been even worse for the Tennessee Titans, with a total of 16 players already testing positive as of writing. Their Week 4 tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers is also slated for rescheduling. Expect more of the same with this Lions – Saints game to provide a buffer period where additional testing can be done.
All in all, it's been a tumultuous ordeal for the NFL as it tries to navigate this new normal. Here's to hoping that the league can keep things under control.
