The name Urban Meyer elicits many different reactions from NFL fans. Some look back on his tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars as rather amusing, in the same way a dumpster fire is interesting. Other fans (mostly Jags fans) remember him with contempt, as they believe he's the root of all their team's problems.

Well, at least for the foreseeable future, we won't be seeing Urban Meyer in the NFL scene. The ex-Jaguars coach is rumored to be in talks with FOX to be part of their coverage of college football. According to The Athletic, the management has no qualms with Meyer's…interesting tenure in Jacksonville.

“The thinking at Fox Sports, via network sources, is that they don’t view Meyer’s failure at the NFL level as an impediment to his returning to Fox. They know that the hire will be pilloried on social media.”

Urban Meyer was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars at the start of the 2021 NFL season to pilot their team. Even before then, there was trepidation surrounding his hire: college football coaches rarely pan out in the pro league. Bobby Petrino's Atlanta Falcons tenure was proof of that. Somehow, someway, Meyer's tenure was just as bad, if not worse, than the train wreck that was Petrino.

Being caught cheating on his wife at a bar, not having a clue about his own players, reportedly kicking a player, the list goes on. Meyer's failures became the laughingstock of the NFL world, as it became apparent that the Jags took the wrong guy. Meyer was fired 13 games into the season, but one could argue he shouldn't have even been hired.
