Why The Colts Can Cover The Spread

The Dolphins have had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL over the first three weeks of the season. The group has given up 10 sacks already this season, and the Dolphins have just 527 passing yards through three weeks. Jacoby Brissett, who will start again Sunday with Tua Tagovailoa on IR, looked good in the second half vs. the Raiders in Week 2, but outside of that it's been pretty rough all around for Miami's offense. Jonathon Taylor is one of the more talented running backs in the NFL, if the Colts can get him going they made be able to unlock their play action passes and gets Wentz into a rhythm as well.

Miami is 29th in total offense, as they rank in the lower third of the NFL in rushing as well. The Colts haven't been great this season, but they have a better offensive line than the Dolphins and have been a bit better both rushing and passing so far this season. The Dolphins defense will present challenges for Carson Wentz, but if he can take care of the ball the Colts should be right in this game.

Why The Dolphins Can Cover The Spread

As a narrow home favorite, the Dolphins should have a slight edge in this one. Brissett is a very capable game manager and knows the Colts well from his time with the team both as a starter and as their backup. He was very solid in Miami's failed comeback attempt vs. the Raiders last week, falling just short in overtime. He showed chemistry with receivers Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Parker. His offensive line will need to be better than they have been so far this season, but even if they struggle some, the Dolphins should be able to hang in this game with their defense.

The Dolphins' defense has a forced a turnover in 24 straight games, and facing Wentz may be a solid recipe to make it 25. Miami, led by cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Bryon Jones, was one of the best defenses in the NFL last season and has shown flashes of being the same type of group early this season. With the home crowd on their side, Miami could be well-positioned for a win on Sunday afternoon.

Final Colts-Dolphins Prediction & Pick

The Dolphins are due to hop back into the win column Sunday after dropping their last two contests. Ride their defensive talent vs. the Colts inconsistent passing attack. This could be a low scoring, defensive affair. The heat in South Florida could also be a factor as teams from the north often struggle with the humidity of a September game in Miami.

FINAL COLTS-DOLPHINS PREDICTION & PICK: Dolphins -1.5 (-117)
