Why the Saints Could Win

Washington's defense is not good. One of the most feared defenses of the 2020 season has become one of the worst in the league in 2021. On average, Washington allows over 400 yards of offense per game. That is the 4th worst in the league. The Saints should have many opportunities to capitalize on this weakness. New Orleans will get their shot, they just need to make the most of what Washington gives them. A large part of that will come down to quarterback Jameis Winston.

The 7th year quarterback has been all over the place this year. Winston threw 5 touchdowns in Week 1. He followed that up by throwing no touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 2. The past two weeks have been more calm for the vet. Week 5 has the potential for another breakout performance from Jameis. Historically he has been inconsistent, but when he's on, he's ON. Jameis can sling the ball and against a weak defense, Winston could repeat his Week 1 performance.

By Winston's side will be Alvin Kamara. Kamara had a slow start to the season but had a breakout Week 4, rushing for 120 yards and setting the pace of the game. The Football Team will need to focus its attention on the Saints running back which should help open things up for the offense.

We know that the Saints offense can be explosive and against a weak Washington defense, expect to see fireworks.

Why the Football Team Could Win

Week 4 saw the New Orleans Saints help the New York Giants notch their first win of the season. This was an embarrassing loss for the Saints and should give Washington fans hope entering Week 5. Washington defeated the Giants in Week 2, and are coming into Week 5 off of a victory against Atlanta. This momentum should carry into the game and give the Football Team a serious chance at winning.

Leading Washington is quarterback Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke has completed nearly 70% of his passes this season. Against the Falcons, he went off for nearly 300 yards and 3 touchdowns in their win against Atlanta. The fourth year quarterback has gotten better every season and is finally getting his shot to prove himself. The Saints have a good rush defense but have allowed nearly 300 passing yards per game. Heinicke will look to capitalize on this and continue his improvement.

Alongside Heinicke is his favorite target in Terry McLaurin. Scary Terry has been having an impressive 2021. The third year receiver already has over 350 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Last week McLaurin found the end zone twice and exploded for 123 yards. The Heinicke-McLaurin combo is as good a threat as any and will definitely play a prominent role in this Week 5 matchup.

For Washington to win this game their defense will need to hold up. If they can give Heinicke the opportunity to win the game for them then Washington fans should feel good about this game.

Final Saints-Football Team Prediction & Pick

This game is going to be very close. There's a reason that the line is set in place to be a close one. Both of these teams are 2-2 and both are looking to keep playoff hopes alive. Betting on one of these teams with this line is too risky. The bet that should actually be looked at is the over under. This is where the real opportunity lies. The o/u is 44.5 and both Washington and New Orleans have scored more than 20 in all but 1 of their games. Take the over and get ready to watch a fun, offensive heavy game.

FINAL PICK: Over 44.5 (-112)
