Recently, rapper Jay-Z partnered with the NFL to become part of the Super Bowl halftime show process. Now, it seems like Jay-Z is trying to further his role in the NFL and has significant interest in becoming a part team owner per TMZ.

The specific details of which team that might be hasn't come out just yet but the decision is expected to happen in the near future. As of now, the rapper/mogul is projected to be worth around $1 billion, which would put him in position to become a minority owner.

With becoming a minority owner, Jay-Z could end being approved to become a majority owner down the road. Currently, Jay-Z has some experience in the NFL with his sports agency, Roc Nation. Furthermore, Jay-Z is allowed to become an owner due to him not being the one who directly operates with the players.

A few of the players who are represented by Roc Nation include Todd Gurley, Saquon Barkley, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.

In the NFL, Jimmy Haslam comes to mind of owners who began as a minority owner. Haslam is presently the majority owner of the Cleveland Browns but first held a minority interest with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If Jay-Z becomes a minority owner, it wouldn't be the first time that the rapper has had an ownership stake with a sports franchise. Nearly 15 years ago, Jay-Z bought a small stake of the Brooklyn Nets for $1 million. Then, in 2013, Jay-Z sold his stake with the basketball team for a “Warren Buffet-like” return.

The 49-year old rapper is now hoping to take his experience from the Nets to the football field.

As Jay-Z once said: I'm not a businessman, I'm a business….man.
