The New York Jets are “undeniably” the frontrunners to sign Le'Veon Bell this offseason. According to one league insider, though, they certainly aren't the only team seriously interested in bringing in the former Pittsburgh Steelers running back.

“I heard from one high-profile agent who is well versed in the running back market that the Jets are ‘undeniably the favorite' to sign the Steelers running back,” Connor Hughes of the Athletic writes. “Another, however, said that while the Jets would pursue Bell and shouldn’t be ruled out, they aren’t alone, with the Eagles and Buccaneers also in the running.”

The Steelers announced in late February that they had opted against using the franchise tag on Bell for a third consecutive season, effectively ending his tenure with the team. Teams are permitted to begin negotiations with free-agent targets on March 11th.

Bell sat out the entirety of the 2018 season after Pittsburgh designated him with the franchise tag for the second year in a row.

Though both player and team initially hoped to work out a long-term contract that would keep him in Pittsburgh for the foreseeable future, those talks deteriorated leading up to the regular season, further frustrating Bell.

The three-time Pro Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro honoree has been one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league since his breakout campaign of 2014.

Bell notched career-highs in rushes, rushing touchdowns, and catches in 2017, finishing his latest season with 321 carries for 1,291 yards and nine scores, adding 85 receptions for 655 yards and two touchdowns.
