The Arizona Cardinals came away with quite the late scare in their Week 17 road win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cardinals built up a 15-point lead in the second half, but the Cowboys did not throw in the towel. Dak Prescott led the Cowboys to a pair of touchdown drives in the fourth quarter, which brought Dallas to within a field goal from mounting a double-digit comeback.

Still, the Cardinals prevailed in the end with a 25-22 win, although they almost collapsed over the late stages of the game after running back Chase Edmonds appeared to have fumbled the ball after being tackled by Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence. The Cardinals maintained possession and milked the clock in the end.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury will be coaching in the playoffs for the first time in his tenure with the team. In his post-game press conference, he was asked whether he would like to meet the Cowboys for a playoff clash later this month. The third-year Cardinals head coach was much honest with his response.

“I would rather not,” Kingsbury said.

If the playoffs were to start today, the Cardinals and Cowboys would face off in the NFC wild-card round. Still, there is a chance that the Cardinals could avoid the Cowboys in the opening round of the playoffs, although they would need to pick up a win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18 and have the San Francisco 49ers defeat the Los Angeles Rams in order to clinch the NFC West title.

In the big picture, the Cardinals may need to eliminate the Cowboys in the playoffs if they aspire to make a run to the Super Bowl.
