The Arizona Cardinals have remained active early on this offseason while the NFC West franchise has now begun to add some depth up front. According to an official statement released by the franchise over the weekend, the Cardinals have signed veteran guard Max Garcia to a one-year free agent contract.

“The Cardinals added one more piece to their first-week-of-free-agency haul Saturday by signing offensive lineman Max Garcia to a one-year contract,” reads the team's statement regarding the matter.

As a result, Garcia will now provide the team with some depth behind projected starters Justin Pugh and J.R. Sweezy. Sweezy notably signed with the Cardinals earlier this week while the team has also acquired veteran offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It is worth noting, though, that Garcia tore his ACL during a practice back in mid-November, so the former Denver Broncos blocker is still recovering from the setback.

The 27-year-old offensive lineman spent the past four seasons as a member of the Broncos. As a result of his time in Denver, Garcia appeared in 57 regular season games en route to making 41 starts during that time. He also started all 32 games at left guard for the Broncos between 2016-17 and 2017-18 after appearing in all 16 regular season games as a rookie in 2015-16. Garcia also appeared in three postseason games, including Super Bowl 50 during his stint in Denver.

The Cardinals are coming off a dismal 2018-19 campaign, though the struggling NFC West franchise currently owns the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.
