The Arizona Cardinals fell to 1-5 following their loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. It appears head coach Steve Wilks is well-aware that his seat is getting warmer with each defeat.
There was some optimism in Arizona coming into the 2018 NFL season. According to Darren Urban of the team's official website, Wilks knows he could soon be out of a job if the Cardinals do not find a way to win:
Wilks' comments came in response to questions about offensive coordinator Mike McCoy's status. It is no secret that Arizona's problems begin and end with their struggles on offense. This is a group that ranks dead-last in total yards per game and time of possession. Their third-down woes were on full display as they failed to convert on all 10 of their opportunities.
There is no doubt that there questions surrounding the state of the offense coming into the season. However, it was hard to imagine things would be this bad with players like running back David Johnson and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on the roster. The Cardinals also pulled the trigger on naming quarterback Josh Rosen as the starter a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, he still has yet to find his footing. As a result, their struggles have been rightfully pinned on the coaching staff. Things will not get any easier as they prepare to face off against the Denver Broncos on a short week.
