Needless to say, the Arizona Cardinals have high expectations for Kyler Murray. If the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft ultimately lives up to them, he'll have realized a dream he's had since growing up.

“As a kid, that’s what you dream of: going to an organization and being that guy, turning the program around, organization around, winning Super Bowls,” Murray said during his introductory news conference on Friday, per Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper. “Like I said, I don’t shy away from hard work. I feel like I’m not here to lose games or go through the motions. I’m here to change things up, so I’m ready to go. I can’t wait.”

The Cardinals, of course, are counting on a changing of the guard after going 3-13 a year ago, the team's third straight season without a winning record. They replaced coach Steve Wilks, after just one year on the job, with former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury, ostensibly because he's considered one of the foremost quarterback gurus in all of football.

Taking Murray first overall also indicates just how ready Arizona is for a change, too. It was just last year that the Cardinals took Josh Rosen with the tenth overall pick, seemingly making him their franchise quarterback. But Kingsbury had eyes for Murray dating back to last fall, when he was still with Texas Tech, saying he would “take [Murray] with the first pick in the draft if I could.”

Murray, obviously, is one of the most unique talents to enter the NFL in years. If he lives up to his potential, it seems only a matter of time until he helps the Cardinals ascend from the league's cellar.
