Over the last few weeks, Baltimore Ravens have been without the services of starting quarterback Joe Flacco as he has been dealing with a disc injury in his back.

However, Flacco took a significant step forward toward returning to the fold as he participated in practice on Saturday for the first time since mid-July.

The 32-year-old was initially slated to miss three to six weeks with the injury as he has progressed enough so between that time frame that he is now able to participate in practice with the team. The next step will be to see how he responds on the practice field over the next few days with the regular season set to begin this upcoming week.

Keep in mind, head coach John Harbaugh had recently promised that Flacco would be back in time for the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 10. He will likely use this upcoming week to knock off much of the rust after being off the field for the entire preseason and training camp.

Flacco is coming off another productive year where he threw for a career-high 4,317 yards on 64.9 percent completion rate with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while playing in all 16 regular season games.
