One of the beautiful things about having a long career in the NFL, as former Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman did, is not needing to work for the rest of your life (if you manage your finances well). But, it appears that Tillman is joining the workforce as a member of the FBI.

The Chicago Tribune reported last year that he had entered the FBI’s 20-week training program at Quantico. According to the Sporting News, he has finished the program and received his badge. He had to finish before his 37th birthday, which happened to be today, February 23th.

If fans are expecting the FBI to make some kind of grand announcement, it is not going to happen. The Sporting News attempted to get in touch with his family but had no luck. They also reported that a spokesperson for the FBI said that it would not be commenting on personnel issues.

Tillman made over $50 million during his 13-year career in the NFL, 12 of which he spent with the Bears and one with the Carolina Panthers. So, he is certainly not doing it for the money, which makes the decision that much more commendable.

The FBI may try to use his notoriety at some point as a recruiting ploy. But, more than likely, for the near future, they’ll probably try to make him as anonymous as they can. But, if he ever gives the “Peanut Punch” to a criminal, we can only hope that it's caught on video for all to enjoy.
