Despite the Buffalo Bills coming off their first playoff appearance in nearly two decades, there has been constant chatter concerning former Pro Bowl quarterback Tyrod Taylor's increasingly shaky future with the team. This conversation has only continued to grow louder the further removed the organization has gotten from the 2017 season.

Taylor is set to be under contract through the 2018 campaign with a salary-cap hit of $18.08 million that includes a $6 million roster bonus on March 16, which is two days after the start of the free agency period. According to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, head coach Sean McDermott has voiced that there are currently no plans to part ways with the 28-year-old this offseason.

Taylor's future in Buffalo has become quite foggy after an inconsistent 2017 season that saw him finish with 2,799 passing yards on a 62.6 percent completion rate with 14 touchdowns to four interceptions while recording 427 rushing yards with four touchdowns in 15 games played. He had also lost his starting job at one point late in the season before regaining to help push the Bills into the playoffs.

He provides a unique factor to Buffalo's offense with his ability to be a dual-threat quarterback with his legs, but that hasn't exactly translated to sustained success on that side of the ball. Outside of the production of Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy, the Bills finished the season 29th in total offense and 22nd in points per game (18.9).

Given the huge salary cap number that Taylor has and the lack of consistent production, it could lead to the Bills deciding to move on from him before that roster bonus comes into effect. The team could quickly be in play to find a replacement in the free-agent market or through the draft where they possess back-to-back first-round picks at the 21st and 22nd overall spots. The front office could try to use those selections to maneuver up in the first round to snag one of the top quarterback prospects available.

Ultimately, this should lead to the Bills making a definitive decision at some point in the next two weeks before Taylor's bonus comes into play.
