The Buffalo Bills made one of this offseason's biggest splashes by acquiring prolific wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings. Despite being forced to give up a slew of future NFL Draft picks in exchange for Diggs' services, the Bills are no doubt better off for making such a move — at least for the foreseeable future.

However, Diggs does not have any time to waste in Buffalo as being acquired in exchange for valuable draft capital comes with some very high expectations. Not only that, but it appears to be Buffalo's time to shine as future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady is officially out of the AFC East as the New England Patriots legend has elected to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Now slated to serve as the team's No. 1 wide receiver while playing alongside the tandem of Cole Beasley and John Brown, Diggs must come to play in his first season in Buffalo in 2020.

Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs Will Surpass 1,200 Receiving Yards In 2020

During his time with the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver Stefon Diggs was part of one of the league's top one-two punches alongside fellow wideout Adam Thielen. However, that meant that Diggs was forced to share a ton of the workload as Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins often favored Thielen, who is as sure-handed as it gets in addition to his ability to get open in the red zone.

Because Diggs will now be the clear-cut No. 1 target for Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Josh Allen, there is no doubt that the longtime Vikings pass catcher will be forced the football in 2020-21. Even with the duo of John Brown and Cole Beasley around in Buffalo, neither are at the caliber of Diggs, who will set a new single-season career-high mark with more than 1,200 receiving yards next season.

It is also worth noting that Diggs' current single-season career-high mark is 1,130 yards, which occurred last season in the absence of an injured Thielen. He has only eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark twice in his six NFL seasons while doing so in each of the last two seasons.

Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs Will Score Less Than Eight Touchdowns In 2020

Although Buffalo Bills newcomer Stefon Diggs will be forced the football en route to piling up some significant receiving yardage in 2020-21, that does not necessarily mean that he will inherit all of the red zone targets going forward. Certainly, a deep threat who will soon become the top target for quarterback Josh Allen, it will presumably be fellow wideouts Cole Beasley and John Brown that are often left open in the red zone.

Not only that, but Diggs may require double coverage at times — in the red zone or otherwise — which will lead to some difficult situations for the former Minnesota Vikings standout. On the other hand, Beasley and Brown will absolutely need to hold up their end of the bargain while beating single or busted coverage if Diggs cannot get open with opposing defenses focusing wholeheartedly on him.

Yards and catches are easy to rack up over the course of a season, but Diggs has only scored at least eight touchdowns twice in his NFL career. He will not reach eight scores in 2020-21 as the Bills will need to share the football when scoring opportunities present themselves.

Buffalo Bills Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs Will Lead The Team To An AFC East Title In 2020

If former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs can truly burst onto the scene in upstate New York, the AFC East will be the Buffalo Bills' for the taking. Because former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is now officially a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Bills will more than likely only need to compete against the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, both of which are still on the rise and haven't quite found their footing just yet. If Diggs and the Bills can get off to a hot start while remaining tough throughout a lengthy NFL campaign, Buffalo should have no issue dispatching of a down Patriots team in addition to the Jets and Dolphins — though the latter two won't be easy outs.

As for Diggs specifically, the former Vikings wideout not only has what it takes to carry an offense, but he will also bring quite a bit of playoff experience with him to Buffalo. Although the Bills reached the postseason last year while doing so for the second time in three seasons, Buffalo is still an up-and-coming franchise that could make some serious noise sooner rather than later.
