A die-hard fan of the Buffalo Bills in Victor Neilson emerged victorious in his recent battle against cancer. He didn't only get to ring the golden bell in the treatment center but he also accomplished a more symbolic celebration of his triumph by breaking a table in true Bills Mafia fashion, via WIVB.

Neilson has grown to love the team as he was being raised in Pendleton during his childhood years. He eventually moved to Indiana but the roots of his western New York nativity can't be ever removed from him.

“I grew up with my dad watching as many bills games as we could in Indiana. Luckily they were good so we were able to see many of them.”

Coincidentally, Neilson began his battle with cancer around the same time that the Bills started the 2020 NFL season back in September of 2020. He also shared that his cancer turned out to be aggressive, which also helped him in his recovery.

“It’s Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, treatable through chemotherapy. Luckily it was an aggressive cancer which takes on chemotherapy rather aggressively.”

Neilson reportedly underwent chemotherapy once every three weeks which went on for five days straight. He was eventually allowed to receive treatment at home which helped him to develop his bond with his family even more as they watch Bills games together.

After being declared cancer-free, Neilson sported a Tremaine Edmunds jersey and put on a white Bills helmet. He stepped on a ladder and broke a table in half with the word ‘cancer' written on it. For him, it was all about spreading positivity and inspiration to anyone who has watched him do it.

“All I cared about to be honest was inspiring, 1, 2, 3 people to say you can do this too, to just keep fighting and keep going.”

Since then, Victor Neilson has already received an outpour of support, especially from Bills fans on social media.

“For all the hate and how bad this world is right now, to see the love and compassion and people reaching out, it brings tears to people’s eyes. It’s bringing tears to my eyes, it’s wonderful ya know?”

His story only proves that having a passion for the game and possessing a will to carry on will allow a person to see life from a more positive perspective despite everything that is happening in society.
