James Cook has been with the Buffalo Bills for two seasons now, and he had a huge campaign last year. His rookie season was solid as he rushed for 507 yards on 89 attempts and added two touchdowns, but he took a big leap last year. In 2023, Cook carried the ball 237 times and he rushed for 1,122 yards and two touchdowns. Cook showed that he has the ability to carry a big load, and the Bills are hoping for another big season out of him.

One offseason under the belt was huge for James Cook, and now that he is getting another, he should be able to continue to make strides next year. He already took a big step last offseason, and Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady has seen a lot of progress already this offseason as well.

“You can look at him and can tell he put in a lot of work this offseason,” Joe Brady said, according to an article from NBC Sports. “He looks different — in a good way. So, I’m excited to see the kind of run style that he plays with this season.”

The Bills have been a consistent contender in the AFC in recent years, and this season, they are hoping to take the next step and find a way to win it and go to the Super Bowl. They have come extremely close, but they haven't been able to find a way to get it done. Cook is now a key contributor for this offense, and he plays a big role in their success. Buffalo needs him to be good.

One thing that the Bills don't want to do is overwork James Cook. He got a lot of action last season, and the RB position is one that takes a beating. RBs have a shorter career than players that play most other positions, and they want to keep Cook healthy.

“I think a lot of that is kind of we’ll see,” Joe Brady said. “We’ll see how [he does], as he’s kind of going with it. We feel confident in the room that we have that whoever is playing running back and carrying the football, they’re going to do a damn good job. With regards to setting a certain target number, I think a lot of that is just kind of seeing how his body holds up throughout the season, what he can do. It’s the same thing for the running back position, we’re going to figure out which runs those guys do a good job of and kind of put them in those positions.”

The Bills feel confident with the guys that they have in their RB room, and they have multiple players that can get in the game and take carries. That is what they are going to have to do to make sure that their guys stay healthy.

The NFL season is slowly approaching, and Bills fans are excited for it. It's another opportunity for this team to get over the hump and pursue their goal of winning the AFC and making it to the Super Bowl.
