The Buffalo Bills finished 2019 on a high note as they gave the Houston Texans a run. While some Bills fans feel that they're closer to making a deep playoff run, the team's front office staff is not closing the door on giving Josh Allen some competition.

According to the Nick Wojton of Bills Wire, the team will still play the 2020 season with Allen starting every game. However, they are not averse to picking up another quarterback in the offseason if it means their chances of making a deep playoff run would improve.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane has expressed his willingness to pick up a talented quarterback through free agency or the draft if it results in a better team overall.

“If there’s a guy that we thought could add competition and fit the dynamic, we wouldn’t hesitate to do it,” he said.“Not that we don’t want somebody pushing Josh, but you’ve got to make sure it’s not somebody that’s undercutting Josh’s development and what he’s doing.”

Allen had a decent second campaign in the Buffalo pocket. He finished the year with 3089 passing yards and 20 touchdown passes, and his interception numbers also went down to nine. However, there's still a persistent doubt whether Allen has what it takes to become the Super Bowl-caliber pass-caller the Bills desperately need.

It's still early in Allen's career, so the Bills' idea of pushing him to improve should serve him well in the long run. It will be up to Allen now if he will respond greatly to the challenge set on him by his team.
