Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy says he is more focused on week 1 of the regular season than his impending lawsuit. McCoy's ex-girlfriend suspects him of being involved in a home invasion that resulted in her being beaten and robbed in July of this year.

The veteran running back addressed the issue publicly for the first time on Wednesday, via Mike Rodak of ESPN.

“I'll take care of that stuff,” McCoy said when asked why he had yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit. “But right now, the only thing I can worry about is the Baltimore Ravens and keeping everything the same with that. Just focusing in on this big week for me, Week 1.”

McCoy is a nine-year player entering his fourth season in Buffalo. He has recorded over 1,000 rushing yards for two consecutive seasons and is looking to extend this streak to three this year.

Being under investigation has derailed his offseason and preseason performance, but he is confident he can kick off the regular season on the right foot. His teammates have been vocal about their support for him, voting him in as a captain for his first time in his stint with the team.

The Bills have named Nathan Peterman as their starting quarterback, electing to keep their 2018 first-rounder Josh Allen on the bench as a backup. Neither of these options have much experience as a starting quarterback in the NFL, giving them one of the least desirable depth charts in the league. Having McCoy as a fixture in the backfield will help guide the team this year as Allen prepares to be their quarterback of the future.
