It has been a rough start to the season for Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy that has put yet another hurdle in front of him after suffering a concussion in the first quarter of last Sunday's 37-5 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

However, it appears that McCoy is making some progress in his recovery as he has been able to practice on a limited basis this week despite yet being cleared from the concussion protocol, according to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network.

McCoy had suffered the head injury early in the first quarter of last Sunday's game against the Colts on just his second rushing attempt of the game where he went down quite awkwardly on the sideline after taking a low hit that pushed his landing to be on his helmet. He was subsequently taken out of the game where he was ruled out due to being placed in the concussion protocol.

It doesn't appear that McCoy has any lingering effects from the injury if he's able to practice this week that should put him in line to possibly play if he's able to continue to practice and clear the protocol by the end of this week. His presence on the field could provide a significant boost to the offense giving them a proven factor out of the backfield that has shown he can carry the brunt of offense behind ability primarily in the running game.

The 30-year-old hasn't gotten off to a strong start with just 244 rushing yards and zero touchdowns along with 13 receptions for 85 receiving yards. McCoy looks to have turned the corner a bit over the last couple of games prior to Week 7 action against the Colts as he had posted back-to-back performances with more than 75 rushing yards including his first 100 total scrimmage yard performance. If he's able to take the field against the New England Patriots, he should be featured heavily in the offensive game plan on Monday night.
