The Buffalo Bills didn't just lose Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, they might have lost their franchise quarterback Josh Allen for next weeks game against the Tennessee Titans.
After taking off for his fifth run of the game, Allen was met by Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones as he delivered a helmet to helmet hit onto the quarterback that knocked him out of the game and put the signal-caller in the NFL's concussion protocol.
Per Mike Sando, an unknown NFL executive stated that it might be better for the Allen in the long term if he is able to avoid taking hits like the one he sustained Sunday. Through the four games Allen has played in, he has taken off to run more than 30 times so far, with 10 of those coming in Week 1.

Standing at 6'5″, Allen is an imposing figure when he is coming at you, but playing a position that is so important to your team's success means you might not be able to take those same hits as other players do.
In a close game Allen was unavailable to help his team and while you have to admire his toughness and motivation to get to the first down marker, the young player has to learn from someone like Russell Wilson, who is willing to use their legs but slide to avoid the kind of hits Allen took.
