The Carolina Panthers are set to embark in the 2018 season after a busy offseason that saw the front office acquire many new offensive weapons to help push the offense forward in helping the franchise compete for a Super Bowl.

There is a renewed buzz around the franchise, but Pro Bowl quarterback Cam Newton has voiced that there is no telling yet what type of team the Panthers will be in 2018, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer.

“We don’t know what we have yet,” he said. “That’s why Sunday is so important. … Before we start foreshadowing things, and kind of expecting things, you know ‘you said this’ or ‘that said what,’ we’re all just trying to focus on winning football games. And as that comes, a lot of things will show (their) hand.”

Carolina has made several changes to the offensive side of the ball in hopes that it can help Newton lead the team to a high level of success with the end goal being winning a Super Bowl. There has been the addition of offensive coordinator Norv Turner to help him be a more efficient passer while the team has acquired receiving talent such as rookie wideout D.J. Moore, veteran speedy wide receiver Torrey Smith along with Jarius Wright. The team has also bulked up their backfield with running back C.J. Anderson.

There is a clear-cut game plan to help the Panthers take their offense to the next level by providing Newton with the talent around him to take the team greater heights. At this point, there is no telling if these were the right moves, but it does help the situation that the front office has been active in giving him more playmakers around him.

It is now on Newton and the Panthers to prove it on the field starting in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, which could set the tone for the 2018 season.
