The Carolina Panthers have overhauled quarterback Cam Newton's throwing motion this offseason to try and put less stress on his shoulder and although he has taken strides with the new motion, he made it very clear on Thursday that it's still a work in progress.

Newton told the media that he has been putting a lot of work in behind the scenes to get to the point he is at now, but still knows there is more to be done.

Newton made it clear that he is feeling good with where he is at and that is the most important thing right now.

For some changing something as big of a throwing motion might be something they are against but earlier this offseason Newton said it was something that he was really embracing.

“This is what I do know,” Newton said via Yahoo.com. “You can look back at any type of player. You can look back at any type of sport and as a player grows, your game has to change. I remember reading and seeing a lot of clips about Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Brett Favre, even Peyton Manning to a degree. When you get old, you have to change certain things. It kind of keeps you young. I actually look forward to it. I embrace this whole process because it’s made me feel like a rookie again. Learning certain things, learning new mechanics, focusing on the little nuances of playing a quarterback position and trying to master it. So at this point in my career, it’s not about velocity. It’s not about throwing a ball 70 yards. It’s about efficient football that’s gonna win football games.”

The hope is with the new throwing motion, Newton will be more efficient and the Panthers will get back into the playoffs.
