The Carolina Panthers came into the offseason as one of the teams with the biggest need for a quarterback. Given how many. options they tried last year and how bad all of them were, they might have had the biggest need. That need has not changed. In fact, it may have grown much more with so many other teams finding options.

Carolina made a big run at Deshaun Watson but came up short. They cleared cap space in order to accommodate a trade but ultimately couldn't strike a deal. They also decided that they would not go after Baker Mayfield, who the Cleveland Browns are looking to trade after acquiring Watson. According to the Charlotte Observer's Jonathan M. Alexander, the Panthers consider three quarterbacks worthy of taking in the first round: Kenny Pickett from Pittsburgh, Malik Wills from Liberty and Matt Corral from Ole Miss. Each youngster has an intriguing skill set and could establish a long-term role in Carolina. They each have flaws that could make them fizzle out at the professional level, though.

Although the overall crop of quarterback prospects is missing the blue-chip prospects that have come out, Carolina may look to take one of the top QBs to build around. If the franchise is serious about finding a franchise quarterback right now, they should make the investment in this draft with their first-round pick.
