Free-agent quarterback Dwayne Haskins is looking to get a new lease on his career as he is set for a visit to the Carolina Panthers on Monday morning, per NFL‘s Ian Rapoport.

The former Ohio State product previously started the 2020 season as the starting playmaker for the Washington Football Team. However, he failed to impress with his performances under center which caused the team to lose five of their first six games of the season.

Returning veteran Alex Smith eventually made his return to the field after having a long lay-off due to his gruesome leg injury from a couple of years ago. With Smith as their quarterback, Washington was able to get a second wind in their campaign and even strengthened their bid to top the lowly NFC East division.

Haskins played his last game with the team against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16 where they suffered a 20-13 defeat. He was eventually booted out of the nation's capital after he was seen attending a party while not wearing a mask and violating COVID-19 protocols.

According to Rapoport, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule has known Haskins since his high school days while Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day also shared a bond with Rhule dating back to their stint together at Temple University.

Similar to Haskins, the Panthers are also finding themselves in a shaky situation as the team failed to see much success with Teddy Bridgewater as their starting quarterback en route to a 5-11 record. In the event that Haskins will get to join any team in the future, he will only be inked to a minimum contract after he cleared waivers for his remaining $4.3 million salary which his former team will cover.

Hopefully, a change in scenery will work wonders for Haskins and the Panthers if they agree to a deal.
