Carolina Panthers starting right tackle Daryl Williams dislocated his right patella and tore the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during Saturday's morning practice, David Newton of ESPN reports.

The team announced that there is currently no timetable for his return, although the normal recovery time for the injury is at least six weeks.

“We are beginning the early stages of rehabilitation, and there is currently no timetable for his return,” head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion said in a statement.

Williams suffered the injury after he was bowled over by defensive end Zach Moore along with contact from tackle Vernon Butler as he dropped back in pass protection. William went down grabbing his knee and screaming in pain during team drills and was carted off the field.

With Williams out, Taylor Morton will take his place at right tackle. Morton, the Panthers’ second-round pick last year, was competing for the starting left guard spot with Amini Silatolu.

The injury is a tough blow for Williams, who is entering a contract year. While the Panthers have begun early negotiations on an extension, they are reportedly still far apart.

Williams was a fourth-round pick by the Panthers in 2015 and has emerged as an integral part of the Panthers’ offensive line. He’s started 26 out of the last 29 games he’s played over the last two years, including all 16 at right tackle last season.
