Denver Broncos running back Jamaal Charles is set to play at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night, his first time back since being released by the Kansas City Chiefs last offseason. Although Chiefs head coach Andy Reid believes letting Charles go was the right decision, he praised the former Kansas City star for what he accomplished during his time with the team, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports.
“He’s done some good things,’’ Chiefs coach Andy Reid said of Charles. “I like Jamaal. I’m not telling you I’m pulling for him on Monday, but other times I’m pulling for the kid. He sure was a great player here.’’
Jamaal Charles, 30, had an outstanding career with the Chiefs. He rushed for 1,000 yards in five of his nine seasons in Kansas City, twice earning All-Pro honors. His career mark of 5.4 yards per carry remains the highest in NFL history for a full-time running back.

Charles is still contributing with the Denver Broncos this year. He has 50 touches on the season for 239 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.
As great a Chief as Charles was, though, Kansas City made the right call to move on from him, especially after he was limited to just eight games in two years following a torn ACL in 2015. They’re now reaping the benefits of that decision with rookie Kareem Hunt, who is currently leading the NFL in rushing yards with 717.
