Prior to the Cleveland Browns making a selection with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, there had been the offseason addition of Tyrod Taylor who would be in to be the starting quarterback to begin the 2018 campaign. However, since the selection of Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, there has been the continued dialogue about there being a competition for the starting spot.
It has already brought an increased spotlight to the team centered training camp possibly becoming an intense situation under center. However, Mayfield has dispelled any concern about this eventual scenario playing out over the next few months causing any internal conflict, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

It may just be a matter of time before this conversation begins to circulate around the team given that Mayfield has been brought aboard to be the long-term solution at the position. This was made clear with team trading for a player in Taylor who is in the final year in his deal that has essentially made him a bridge quarterback to whoever the Browns had taken at the first overall pick.
Mayfield just happened to be that choice for the Browns that will continue to push this conversation around him throughout the offseason because it is an imminent situation that will arise at some point. It will be imperative that the Oklahoma product should handle this entire position correctly as it will have a significant impact on the future of the franchise.
The Browns are high on Mayfield showing enough to be their starting quarterback at some point in the near future. It may just be a matter of letting it all play out over the next few months to see who is the better fit for the franchise as the starter this upcoming season.
