There was a lot of hype surrounding Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns. They were expected to hit the ground running after going through the most exciting season and offseason in recent memory.

However, they were blindsided by the Tennessee Titans who crushed them, 43-13. Detractors were then quick to dismiss the team as overrated after tripping on their laces to start the season.

However, the former walk-on-turned-first-overall-pick was calm and collected in the post-game press conference. He shared with the press that going through such a tough loss is good for the Browns.

Nick Shook of the team's official website recounted the quarterback's words as to how the loss will help the team improve moving forward:

“Because everybody is going to throw us in the trash, and I think that’s good,” Mayfield explained. “I know what type of men we have in this locker room and quite frankly, I really don’t give a damn what happens on the outside. I know how we’re gonna react, I know what we’re gonna do, how we’re gonna bounce back.”

Coach Freddie Kitchens echoed his star QB's words:

“This only counts as one game,” Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens said afterward. “The world is not ending today, contrary to popular belief. Everyone is going to keep believing in the locker room. That is the only thing that matters. That is the only thing that has ever mattered, and we will move forward and get better from here.”

Fans will likely remember this as the game where Mayfield broke down in the fourth. While he had a middling performance on the passing game, he passed three interceptions in the fourth. The running game was also stopped in its tracks as Nick Chubb only covered 75 yards after 17 carries.

There's no way to look but up for the Browns. They hope for a better outing when they face the New York Jets next week.
