Just take it one step at a time. That's the message Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is preaching about the Browns' outlook for the 2020 season. Speaking with the NFL Network on Inside Training Camp Live, Mayfield focused his message on taking things day by day.

“Taking it one game at a time, building on the success that we had last year and then eliminating the mistakes for me, personally,” Mayfield said Monday afternoon on NFL Network's Inside Training Camp Live, answering a question about what the season's success would look like for him. “I've always been about, ‘The individual success comes with the team success.' So winning games is first and foremost.”

Focusing on team success over personal accolades is what most of the all-time great players, especially quarterbacks, focus on. Looking ahead further Mayfield is focused on simply getting the Browns to the playoffs.

“The biggest difference, it starts with a division title,” Mayfield said. “That's what we need to set our goals for and then go from there because if you make it into the playoff run, anything can happen. So we set our goals for the division title and take it one game at a time, just make sure that we're singular focused and have everybody ready, week to week.”

Focusing on getting to the playoffs and winning the division before setting any further goals makes sense. Especially for a team that hasn't made it to the playoffs since 2002, which is also the only time the franchise has made it to the playoffs since its reactivation in 1999 following the original Browns' move to Baltimore to become the Baltimore Ravens.
