Since the Cleveland Browns made the decision to roll with rookie Baker Mayfield, the team has a had a notable uptick offensively over the last couple of weeks.

However, the Browns still have had some struggles in the passing game with their group of receiving options having issues holding onto the ball with nine drops through the first four games played. With that in mind, Mayfield has stepped forward to take on the blame for the team's shortcomings in that area, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

“I have to put it in a better spot,” said Mayfield. “I think that I can put it more in their chest, more on their eyes and make it easier for them to catch. We just have to be more detailed.

“I keep saying it, but when you are playing on turf like that, it is a little more slippery. You have to have your shoulders over your toes when you are cutting. You have to do the right things. We talked about it. We just all have to be more detailed when it comes to stuff like that.”

Mayfield has shown to be an accurate thrower of the ball that has seen their offense produce at a higher level with him under center. There have been notable issues arise as the team has had difficulty at times connecting on passes with a few throws being a bit out of reach. This has contributed to the Browns having issues with put together big plays that could shift the momentum in their favor.

It is an issue that goes both ways the wide receivers namely rookie Antonio Callaway, who has three drops, must put forward a more concerted effort to cleaning up this part of the game. Mayfield has demonstrated to have the talent that can help lead the team to success, but it is has been bumps like this that have deterred them from taking that next step.

The Browns have a tough challenge in front of them in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens, who hold one of the league's best defenses against the pass giving up a league-best 53.8 percent completion rate, 5.3 yards per attempt, and 69.1 passer rating through the first month of action. This will be a chance for Cleveland to take some crucial steps forward against one of the top defenses in the league.
