The Cleveland Browns started training camp on Thursday. That was the first day of training camp Freddie Kitchens has ever had as a permanent head coach.

Safe to say, Kitchens loves what he is doing.

Can anyone blame him? Everyone has worked under someone before. It's not all terrible (depending on the people above you), but you're still reporting to someone. That means you have to get permission before you do certain things. If you don't get permission, you'll have to face someone's wrath — that's never fun.

However, Freddie Kitchens is now the top dog. He gets to make the rules and isn't answering to anyone at training camp.

In fact, Kitchens gets to make the rules now. It's like when someone been babysat the first few years of life, and then that person gets to babysit someone else. The roles have been reversed. Suddenly a grown-up human being doesn't have a set bedtime — he gets to set everyone else's.

Kitchens is living that babysitting life. He's the boss of everyone at camp and you can't blame him for enjoying it.

As interim head coach last season, Kitchens was fantastic and the Browns looked better than they had in years. Now they get to see what a full year together looks like. There will be many more “firsts” for Kitchens; this is just the latest.

The Cleveland Browns have a legitimate shot at the playoffs this season. They could easily turn into a dominant team. If that happens, Freddie Kitchens could see an extension coming his way.

With that in mind, this is the first training camp for Freddie Kitchens as head coach. It's hard to imagine it's far from his last.
