Myles Garrett wants his Cleveland Browns teammates to get on his level. The former number one overall pick wasn't playing around when talking about the wasted opportunities his squad is leaving on the field.
The Browns defensive end said he was ‘frustrated' that he's garnering a ton of attention from his opponents, leading to double-teams against him, but claims his teammates aren't taking advantage.
Via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com:
“For me, it’s tough watching my teammates not being able to make a play because when I see the offense keying on me with chips and stuff like that, I’m like well, they’re taking a player out of play to stop me, so we have a one-on-one,’' he said Friday at the podium. “And to see that they’re not making the play, it’s kind of frustrating because I want to see them go out there and make big plays and we’ve got to get there.”
He further challenged the rest of the Browns defense to earn their respect. As soon as they start impacting the game the way Garrett wants, the sooner they stop with the double-teams and chips against him.
“I’m trying to take two or three men, however many, to take out of the pass or the run, so we have to take advantage of that. And I know that they’re not always going to do that [chip and double] me. They’re going to do that for other players as soon as they step up and start making big plays, but right now, we all have to make plays. We all have to earn that respect.’’
The Browns star also had a funny exchange with his Week 2 matchup against the Houston Texans, Laremy Tunsil. Garrett expressed his frustration at the chips thrown his way because it robbed him a chance to go head-to-head with his fellow Pro Bowler.
🤣 Come on @Flash_Garrett , what happen without the chips 🤔 https://t.co/eLD7Mmli1s

Myles Garrett definitely said these words to fire up his teammates and not just to show them up. We'll just have to wait and see how the Cleveland Browns defense reacts in their Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
