Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson received a huge update on his ongoing legal case when it was announced that he would not be charged on Friday. After the shocking news, the trade buzz immediately intensified around Watson, who is regarded as one of the better quarterbacks in the league. The Texans star has been linked to teams such as the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and most recently, the Seattle Seahawks. However, another team has emerged as a potential trade suitor: The Cleveland Browns.

The latest Browns rumors via NBC Sports and Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer shed light on Cleveland's recent actions, which certainly aren't encouraging for quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Cleveland has seemingly indicated that Baker Mayfield will be their starter in 2022, though the fact that they were doing their due diligence on Watson certainly can't make the Browns' incumbent starter feel very confident in his job status.

One has to feel for Mayfield here, given the circumstances of his injury-filled 2021 campaign. However, it's hard to blame the Browns for looking into Watson, who has thrown for over 3800 yards and 26-plus touchdowns while making the Pro Bowl in each of his last three full seasons. He is legitimately a franchise-changing quarterback.

It will be interesting to see if the Browns pull the trigger on a Watson trade and surprise the NFL.
