The Cleveland Browns are doing something that they haven't done in what seems like centuries: they are winning games, and after defeating the Denver Broncos at Mile High Stadium this past Saturday, offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens earned himself a big vote of confidence.

“It did lock up the job for their offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens because of the job he's doing with Baker Mayfield,” said Jay Glazer on the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show. “But because now they have a coach for Baker, they can open up that head coaching search. They don't have to go find that offensive guru. They can go out and find the best guy for the job.”

Oddly enough, though, in spite of the job that head coach Gregg Williams has done since taking over for Hue Jackson, leading the team to a 4-2 record during his tenure, his job is apparently not safe.

“Now Gregg Williams, if they run the table and make the playoffs, does he have a legitimate shot at getting that job? Absolutely,” Glazer said. “But right now, they're not ready to hand Gregg the job just yet.”

You would think the Browns would be ready to hand the job to any head coach who can make them look like a competent team, but that is not the case just yet.

As for Kitchens, the 44-year-old began the year as Cleveland's running backs coach before offensive coordinator Todd Haley was fired along with Jackson in late October. Kitchens then stepped into the role of offensive coordinator, and the Browns have gone 4-2 since that point.

Cleveland will host the Cincinnati Bengals next weekend.
