At varying points of their lives, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and New York Jets safety Jamal Adams have called LSU and New York City home. On Monday, the two will get to face each other for the first time, when they place at MetLife Stadium.

Beckham is excited for the occasion to face a former Tiger and current friend. He said, via Greg Joyce of the New York Post:

“I’m excited. I’m sure when the [ball] snaps, he’s not going to be as friendly, but that’s my little bro. That’s my brother. We both wore 33 [at LSU]. When we was in New York, we went to eat. That’s my guy, through and through. He’s a phenomenal player.”

Adams, on the other hand, recognizes Beckham as one of the best in the NFL. However, when the ball gets kicked off, there are no friends on the field. Said Adams:

“Everybody knows if he’s not the best, he’s [one of] the best receivers in the game. I’m excited to play him for the first time. That’s one of my good friends and obviously a brother. We’re excited to compete out there. There’s no friends on the field. He obviously knows that. On the field, it’s ‘go’ time.”

While Beckham and Adams didn't play together at LSU — one year apart between Beckham's departure and Adams' arrival — he did watch him flourish into the player he is today.

“I’ve seen that since the day he walked into LSU: his charisma, the way he carries himself on the field, plays with a lot of energy and he’s elite. It’s exciting to be able to go up against him. I literally watched him from LSU to where he’s at now. It’s pretty impressive what he’s done.”

Beckham and Adams may not slot up against each other, considering Adams plays safety, but expect to see them meet up in the sticks a few times. From there on, the matchup between Beckham's speed and Adams' hard hits are must-watch football when the Browns and Jets face off.
