There was never a question that this was going to be a rebuilding year for the Cleveland Browns. They used 14 picks in the 2016 NFL draft, signing all of them. They'll have two first rounders and a number of other selections in the 2017 draft as well. They're investing in the future while sacrificing the present.
Still, things have gone downhill faster than the Browns had hoped. Robert Griffin III is out until at least midseason, and possibly for the duration of the year. Josh McCown played through a significant shoulder injury on Sunday, but now he's out for Week 3.
Insert Cody Kessler, a rookie from USC who wasn't touted by many to excel in the NFL. He'll start on Sunday in Miami.
With all of Cleveland's woes at the quarterback position, some people have wondered if the Browns would consider contacting Johnny Manziel.

Manziel also briefly commented on the national anthem protests, particularly in relation to Colin Kaepernick:
“I believe Colin Kaepernick is standing up for what he believes in and he has a right to do that.”
