The Dallas Cowboys were able to come away with an impressive 21-6 victory against the New York Giants in Week 15. It was a game that many expected them to win and they did exactly that by taking care of business. The Cowboys are now 10-4 on the season and have shown they can be a potential Super Bowl-winning team with how well they have played.

There are plenty of reasons why the Cowboys were able to come away with this victory but their defense was certainly the main reason. They still did have contributions from most guys on the offensive side of the ball but they didn't have to do as much as they would usually have to do because of how well their defense played.

This was an impressive win for the Cowboys who are trying to secure the NFC East Division and potentially the number one seed in the NFC conference. Let's take a look at three takeaways from the Cowboys' dominant Week 15 win over the New York Giants.

Cowboys Week 15 Takeaways

3. The defense is here at the perfect time

The Cowboys' defense was able to shut down a below-average Giants offense on Sunday. At the end of the day, an NFL team is still an NFL team and only giving up six points, no matter who it is against is always impressive. They were able to intercept three passes and also force a fumble which they did recover. If the Cowboys want to continue winning football games towards the back end of the season and then make a deep run in the playoffs, they're going to need to continue playing defense at the highest level. They have a great offense but at the end of the day so does every other team that's going to be in the playoffs.

The success that the Cowboys are going to find towards the playoffs and the back end of the season is all going to be dependent on just how good the defense can be. They have shown throughout the season that they can get stops against above-average offenses but there are other weeks where they do seem to struggle against elite offenses. They have some of the best defensive players in all of football including guys like Micah Parsons, and Trevon Diggs, who are arguably the two best players at their position in the whole NFL.

The defense should have some confidence after only giving up six points this week and that's going to help them moving forward while they try to win a Super Bowl and also try to secure the number one seed in the NFC.

2. No losing to teams in the division late in the season

In the past decade, the Cowboys always had an issue of losing to teams that were in their division towards the back end of the season, and it usually spoiled their season. There was a potential chance that this could have happened this year but they made sure to take care of business leading up to the last few games of the season and have continuously proved throughout the year that they are much better than anybody in the NFC East.

For the future of this organization, this is a major thing to be excited about because if they can continue playing like how they have this year, they will not have to worry about those late NFC East games that they used to dread in the past. They clearly have more talent than mostly every other team that the Cowboys have put out there in the past decade so there's no reason to expect them to do any different in the future besides taking care of business against NFC East opponents.

1. Playoffs are soon, need everyone healthy

At this point, it seems like the Cowboys have the playoffs in the bag. They have done everything that they have needed to do throughout the season to deserve a spot and that looks like it's going to cause them to walk away with the NFC East Division. At the end of the day, no team is going to find any success without most of their players being fully healthy.

That's exactly what the Cowboys need to worry about. They need to make sure that they are being smart and safe with their players so that they continue to be healthy towards the back end of the season. They have dealt with some minor injuries throughout the year but they want to avoid all those as much as possible because they have Super Bowl aspirations and if they are not healthy, that Super Bowl is going to be much tougher to win than it already is.
