Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made one thing clear coming into this season, a player will stand for the National Anthem if they want to continue to be apart of the team. Numerous players from other teams have sounded off about Jones and his National Anthem policy. San Francisco 49ers star Richard Sherman didn't mince his words saying Jones has an “old plantation mentality.”

“The owner of the Dallas Cowboys, with the old plantation mentality,” Sherman said of Jones via USA Today. “What did you expect?”

The NFL and the NFL Players Association are trying to work on a plan regarding the National Anthem that works for both the players and the league.

Jones has made it clear that he doesn't care what that policy says, his players will be standing up for the National Anthem.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott echoed his owner's thoughts saying the National Anthem is not the time or place for a protest.

“I don’t think that’s the time or the venue to do so,” Prescott said, via the Star-Telegram. “The game of football has always brought me such a peace and I think it does the same for a lot of other people, people playing the game, people watching the game and any people that have an impact on the game. So when you bring such a controversy to the stadium, to the field, to the game, it takes away. It takes away from the joy and the love that football brings a lot of people.”

Prescott has also received backlash from players around the league for his comments and it appears that this controversy is going to get worse before it gets better.
