On Tuesday, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Cole Beasley made an odd comment on Twitter, suggesting that the Cowboys front office prioritizes targets for some receivers over others:
“Honestly, the front office pushes who they want to get the ball to,” tweeted Beasley in response to a fan. “I haven’t been a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change but I’m not sure. More balls come my way in 2 minute drill where nothing is planned.”
The next day, Beasley got back on Twitter to give some clarification on his statement:

Big free agent additions, high draft picks, etc are going to get the most opps. And I’m not mad at that! Lol I just want to help my team win. All good players want the rock.”
Beasley will be a free agent this offseason, and if he has any plans on returning to Dallas for the 2019 campaign, he will probably have some explaining to do to Jerry Jones and the rest of the Cowboys brass.
On the 2018 season, Beasley was targeted 87 times and hauled in 65 receptions for 672 yards and three touchdowns in what was one of the most productive campaigns of his rather modest seven-year NFL career.
The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Southern Methodist University, went undrafted but landed with the Cowboys in 2012.
Beasley has been a steady contributor in Dallas' receiving corps ever since, with his best year coming in 2016 when he caught 75 passes for 833 yards and five scores.
