The Dallas Cowboys suffered a devastating loss in their pivotal NFC East showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16. Amidst their struggles was the poor performance of quarterback Dan Prescott who had been coming into the game with a shoulder injury.
There had been rumors that the shoulder sprain was worse than Dallas was letting on on his abysmal outing only raised further questions regarding the severity of the injury. Prescott dispelled this notion by reassuring that he had felt no pain during the 17-9 loss, via Jon Machota of The Athletic:
“I missed some throws. I can't say I have pain or felt it in my shoulder. It could've been a lack of reps this week, who knows? It definitely wasn't my shoulder. It wasn't anything I was feeling. I felt great.”
Although it is encouraging to see that Prescott's shoulder does not appear to be an issue, there is now even more speculation surrounding what went wrong with the offense. With the division and their playoff hopes on the line, he completed 25-of-44 passes for 265 yards and zero touchdowns.
Of course, Prescott hardly had any help from his receiving corps as they dropped a total of six passes in Week 16. As a result, the Cowboys are now left with a laundry list of questions to answer going into the offseason if the Eagles can seal the deal by beating the New York Giants in the season finale.
It will be interesting to see how Dak Prescott's shortcomings affect his negotiations with team owner Jerry Jones for a long-term contract.
