The Dallas Cowboys have put an emphasis on fortifying their personnel on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. It appears they have now managed to address their depth issues up front by bringing in former Kansas City Chiefs tackle Cameron Erving.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys have reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with Erving:

The Cowboys have endured some significant turnover along the offensive line with the departure of tackle Cameron Fleming and guard Xavier Su'a-Filo in free agency. Meanwhile, center Travis Frederick's retirement also dealt a crushing blow to quarterback Dak Prescott's protection.

Erving will have an opportunity to fill the void left by Fleming as a tackle capable of working on either side of the line. The former first-round pick from the 2015 NFL Draft has more than enough experience at both spots from his time with the Cleveland Browns and the Chiefs.

Erving is slated to have some competition from tackle Brandon Knight heading into the 2020 NFL season. Knight emerged as a pleasant surprise after the undrafted rookie etched out an integral role for himself as the backup at right tackle and he even managed to start one game during the 2019 campaign.

Although the Cowboys still have yet to strike a long-term deal with Prescott, they have clearly made efforts to shore up his supporting cast this offseason. As a result, it is safe to assume that expectations remain as high as ever despite all the new changes to the coaching staff.
