Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had recently stated that he had hoped that his team had a pure No.1 wide receiver to depend on in the passing game, which quickly became connected straight back to former Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant.
It didn't take long for Bryant to issue a response via Twitter as he stated that he would have more than kept his end of the bargain in that role for the Cowboys' passing game.
Idk what Jerry meant by that #1 WR but I’m damn for sure would have kept them chains moving…

There is a clear disconnect that between Bryant and Jones that has only continued to grow larger the further along in the season that this situation gets. Prior to these latest comments, there was Jones shooting down the possibility that the 29-year-old could return to the team voicing that the Cowboys have already moved on from him. This came shortly after Bryant had stated that he would entertain the scenario of playing with Dallas once again.
The sole reason that this conversation has continued to linger is that he has remained on the open market through Week 5 of the regular season. There is no clarity as to if he has any significant interest in his services or whether he will have a new deal in place at all at any point. Instead, Bryant has been passed over on several instances by various teams despite being arguably the most talented wide receiver on the market.
Much of this stems with the belief that his strong personality has deterred teams from bringing him aboard as his ability on the field is no longer what it once was. This has been keyed down to the difficulty to continue to create separation from defenders while his production has dropped over the last few years failing to notch 1,000 receiving yards in the last three years. Nonetheless, the longer Bryant remains on the open market discussions like this will remain prevalent.
