Ezekiel Elliott has been a workhorse running back for the Dallas Cowboys since coming into the NFL. Unfortunately, the more they continue to rely on him with all the carries, the shorter his career could end up being with the amount of wear and tear that his body is undergoing each year.
Dallas went out and brought in multiple running backs in the 2019 NFL Draft. One of their picks that some believe will end up being a great addition is Ohio State running back Mike Weber.
Both Elliott and Weber played at Ohio State and the Cowboys' superstar was more than happy to welcome his fellow Buckeyes' alum to Dallas.
It will be interesting to see what the Cowboys end up doing in their backfield. Will they give Elliott a similar amount of carries or will they take away a good portion of his workload? Jason Garrett will have some tough decisions to make when it comes to that specific situation.
Article Continues BelowWeber had a great career at Ohio State, but his senior season was not as dominant as the majority of his career. He ended up carrying the football 172 times for 954 yards and five touchdowns. In addition to his rushing numbers, he caught 21 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Garrett will also has Memphis running back Tony Pollard on the roster, who was also drafted this year. He is a quality running back, but there is a good chance that Weber will beat him out for playing time.
No matter what happens, Elliott is still the go-to guy and it seems unlikely that the Cowboys would make any move that takes the football out of his hands too much.
