Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has no intentions of taking the week off when it comes to the Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants.
The Cowboys have officially locked up the No. 4 seed in the NFC, which means that a win or loss against the Giants doesn't do a whole lot in terms of the team's spot in the postseason.
However, with Dallas wanting to enter the playoffs with a lot of momentum, it's no surprise that players like Elliott want to stay on the field so that they can continue building confidence for the postseason run.
Here's what Elliott had to say about the situation, courtesy of David Moore of the Dallas Morning News:
“We can't afford to take a week off,” Elliott said. “That's not even an option.”
Of course, it will be Jason Garrett that has the final say as to who plays and who doesn't play, but it's clear that Elliott would love to be on the field against the Giants.
The former Ohio State star has 304 carries for 1,434 yards and six touchdowns this season, and he has also racked up 77 receptions for 567 yards and three touchdowns.
Elliott and company have certainly been one of the hottest teams in the NFL down the stretch, and even with the disappointing 23-0 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15, there's a lot to like about the Cowboys entering the playoffs.
With Elliott's ability to make huge plays, he's going to be one of the reasons why the team could potentially make its long-awaited return to the Super Bowl.
