Could a Le'Veon Bell situation be brewing in Dallas?

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott would like a contract extension done this offseason, which may not be all that easy for Dallas given the number of players it is going to have to pay.

Of course, the Cowboys have no reason not to extend Elliott, as he is one of the best running backs in the league and has been Dallas' best player, but, as with any other player in the NFL, it remains to be seen just how much money he is asking for.

As Rapoport points out, it makes plenty of sense for Elliott to ask for an extension now, as he has accumulated a massive amount of carries over his first three years in the league, leading the NFL in that category in two of his three seasons.

And remember: Elliott was suspended for six games in 2017, so it is entirely possible he would have paced the league in rushing attempts yet again last year had he gotten the opportunity.

Plus, Elliott is not just carrying the football; he is producing.

The 23-year-old was No. 1 in the league with 1,434 yards on the ground this season, marking the second time he has led the NFL in rushing.

He also captured the rushing title during his rookie campaign, when he punctured defenses for 1,631 yards.

Elliott, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State University, was originally selected by the Cowboys with the fourth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.
