There was plenty of speculation regarding the state of the receiving corps for the Dallas Cowboys. Aside from the uncertain future of wide receiver Dez Bryant, wide receiver Brice Butler also voiced his demands for his role on the team moving forward.

However, the Cowboys have since answered these concerns by adding some much-needed depth in the form of wide receivers Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson. As a result, Butler is now officially on his way out of town.

Butler made it clear at the start of the offseason that he would only return to Dallas if he was promised to be named a starter. Needless to say, his demands came as a bit of a surprise considering his minor role in the offense throughout the 2017 NFL season. The five-year veteran registered 15 catches for 317 yards and three touchdowns while playing 261 snaps.

Although it was somewhat of a career-year for Butler, it was hardly reminiscent of a bonafide starting wideout. That said, the Cowboys brought in more proven options to replace him while they deal with the Bryant situation.

Fortunately, Butler could have more luck competing for a starting job on his free agency tour. It goes without saying that each of the aforementioned teams listed has dire needs to fill at the receiver position.
