The Dallas Cowboys are hiring former Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards — again.
Edwards will work with the linebackers, according to Clarence Hill Jr, of the Star-Telegram.

Edwards actually started his coaching career back with the Cowboys back in 1998 and was with the team until 2001. He left to become an assistant defensive coordinator with the Washington Redskins. Later on, he became the Redskins defensive coordinator.
Edwards spent six seasons as the Vikings defensive coordinator and was well respected. But the team didn't renew his contract after the 2019 season. There was some speculation he could follow former Vikings offensive coordinator to Kevin Stefanski, but that never happened.
Last season there was a big knock on the Cowboys assistant coaches for being too young. So new head coach Mike McCarthy brought in veterans to fill out his staff. McCarthy kept Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator, but outside of him, it's a lot of guys with a ton of NFL experience.
Mike Nolan was hired as defensive coordinator and Scott McCurley was brought in as the linebackers coach. He also brought in Skip Peete as the running backs coach, Joe Philbin as the offensive line coach, and Jim Tomusla in charge of the defensive line.
The Cowboys are bringing in a lot of new guys, but that doesn't mean the expectations are going to be low. Jerry Jones still has expectations of winning the Super Bowl. And if 2020 is a struggle, it wouldn't be shocking to see some big changes after the year with the coaching staff.
