The Dallas Cowboys will attempt to bounce back from a disappointing 2017 NFL season in which America's Team missed the playoffs. Although the team is stacked with young talent, the future of some of the big-name veterans on the team has been up in the air including tight end Jason Witten.
Now it appears there's been some clarity as to whether Witten will continue his NFL career. Witten was rumored to be considering walking away from the game to pursue a career in broadcasting like his former teammate Tony Romo did last year. According to Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com, Stephen Jones has made it clear Witten is focused on the upcoming 2018 campaign.
Cowboys recently restructured Witten’s contract to create cap room. There have been reports about TV networks having interest in Witten, but Stephen said Cowboys haven’t heard any different about Witten’s desire to keep playing. “You know how Jason is; he’s all in.” #cowboyswire

At 35, Witten is still going strong for the Cowboys. The Tennessee product is as reliable a player in the NFL today as he's missed only one game in the regular season throughout his entire career and that came in his rookie campaign in Dallas.
Last season, Witten remained one of Dak Prescott's favorite targets in the offense as he caught 63 passes for 560 yards and five touchdowns. Although those numbers are about of what he was putting up during his prime years with the Cowboys, he's still a solid option in the passing game and will likely continue playing until he feels it is time to walk away rather than being forced out for new blood at the position.
However, it isn't beyond the realm of possibility that the Cowboys brass bring in his successor this season. Witten may be tasked with helping bring along a rookie tight end while also playing a considerable amount of snaps himself.
